Well its official… Apparently women do prefer food to sex. Well I could have told them that….
Although women do think about sex about 10 times a day (am surprised we have enough time to think about it that much) we fantasize over food much more. Could say something here but won’t.

Women also think about their weight approximately 10 times a day. We also feel the best time to start a diet is at 11.00 am on a Tuesday morning.

Well I will bear all of this in mind and try to think of sex more and put my diet start date in my diary!!

Let me know what you think. Quick diet loss or sex?? Do you agree with this or do you think its yet another rather strange survey.

Well apparently its official quick diet loss is harder for women. We are, according to a study, less able to control our rampant hunger than men and I suppose lose weight on quick fix diets. It is all to do with the brain’s makeup so to speak.

Brain scans were carried out on men and women who had eaten nothing overnight and then they were observed to see how they all reacted when confronted with their favourite food.

The brains reactions were different between the sexes. Both the men and women were subjected to a technique which basically supressed thoughts of hunger. Both sexes said there hunger decreased but the brain scans showed that whilst the mans brain activity had decreased the womans had not. (Although she thought it had)!

I recalled this story to my husband who stated he knew that all along that women say one thing and mean another. Well its official now, or so he thinks.

Technorati Profile

A recent study into the effects on our health if we reduce our calorie intake has shown that it is not healthy and will not increase our lifespan.   The research has been directed to the opinions that calorie reduction will decrease our chances of certain diseases such as cancer, heart disease or Alzheimers.

The new research has shown that unless you are obese reducing your calories or resorting to a quick fix diet will not extend your lifetime and they reckon is basically a waste of time and if done to excess rather dangerous.

Personally as I have stated before anything done in moderation is good for you and if you are overweight it makes perfect sense to reduce your calories slowly and increase your exercise.  Let me know if you have had any problems with quick diet loss and reducing your calories either to much or to quickly.

Does a vegetarian diet help you with quick diet loss?  Research states that people who follow a vegetarian diet have, on the whole, a lower body weight compared with non-vegetarians.   Does switching to a vegetarian diet guarantee weight loss or is this another quick fix diet.

Well apparently not – its all about eating a healthy well balanced diet and not having huge portions.  Even vegetarians can choose the wrong foods with little or no nutritional value.

If you do decide to look into swapping to a vegetarian diet bear these points in mind;

Foods must be low in fat.

Must provide all the nutrients your body needs.

Include protein especially if you have cut out foods like fish and eggs.  Protein is really good at keeping you full longer.

Make sure you research such a drastic change first and ensure it is correct for you especially if you have been an avid meat eater.  With anything in life it might be best to phase out certain foods slowly instead of one day waking up and saying right “I am now a vegetarian”.  Your digestive system might revolt otherwise.

If anyone has swapped to a vegetarian diet and lost weight please let me know.  I would welcome your comments.

Yep another new diet pill promising quick diet loss is now available from pharmacies without prescription.  If you read my earlier post regarding diet pills these do not work and have some horrible side effects.

Well this one also probably falls under the umbrella of quick diets and there have already been stories regarding unwanted side effects.  There really is no miracle pill just a well thought out plan, resolve and encouragement from friends and family.

Quick diet loss will not happen with certain types of food.  Once eaten they seem to make us want even more.  Ever sat there and ate the whole box of chocolates without even realising!

There are, however, some foods which do completely the opposite.  Yes they actually help us lose weight.

Here are some below and they are not quick fix diets.

Grapefruit – if eaten before a meal it has been proven to help you lose weight.  For the best results use real grapefruit.

Sardines – not my favourite food but as they are full of protein they help stimulate  your metabolic rate and also regulate your blood sugar.  They also put you in a “good mood” and this in turn stops you craving junk food.

Green tea – ok not quite a food but it does boost your metabolism and is full of amazing healthy antioxidants.  Something everyone should drink even if they don’t want to lose weight.   If you do want to lose weight with green tea try drinking five cups a day.

Just working out how to use twitter. Kids told me it was easy!

Hey today I thought I would deviate from my usual moaning about quick diet loss and give you a few simple steps that I have used to keep up my resolve, or stop me  eating the entire contents of the fridge whilst everyone else was safely tucked up in bed!!  No mention of quick fix diets today…

Ok well to stop yourself launching into the fridge for “goodies” – don’t put them in there.  Throw out the junk food and replace it with healthy food.

As soon as you wake up get into that kitchen.  Yep, you read that right.  Well if you have been asleep for 8 hours your body is getting kinda hungry.  It has been proved that if you eat upon waking you won’t get those awful cravings for sugar at about 10.00 am.

Don’t beat yourself up if you do over indulge.  Just move on and forget about it.  If you do cheat then follow this with at least five healthy meals.

Always remember your new way of eating is improving the quality of your life.

One of the most worrying quick diet loss methods which is extremely popular and promises instant, quick results are diet pills. Yes we have all seen the adverts and the websites promising quick, drastic weight loss without having to lift a finger, well only to pop the pill into our mouth!
What these companies do not tell you is that the majority of diet pills on the market are one of the worst quick fix diets available. These diet pills can cause serious side effects due to the ingredients they are made with.

I won’t list all the components of the pills here but they make horrifying reading.

The pills contain stimulants with can send the nervous system crackers causing an increased heart rate, dizziness, high blood pressure and anxiety. They are also addictive due to the stimulation of the nervous system.
The problem is that a number of diet pills that are illegal in certain countries are readily available on the internet and vulnerable people who are desperate to lose some weight, normally after trying various methods, will buy them. If you are adamant that you want to try diet pills please contact your medical practitioner first. At least the products they will prescribe are licensed..
I know it would be wonderful if we could all lose weight by just popping a pill but quick diet loss will not be achieved by taking these and you run the risk of becoming seriously ill.

I read an interesting article today which isn’t really anything to do with quick diet loss but made me think why I find it so hard to give up sugar.

Our bodies are programmed to love anything sweet. We have a gene for sweets (great) and a receptor for sweet tasting things that is unique to human beings. That explains why I just cannot drink my coffee with no sugar.

Babies are born with a taste for sweet products and although many people state sugar makes children hyperactive it apparently calms the brain due to its effect on the serotonin levels.

We do, however, according to the study consume to much of a good thing with Americans now eating more than 23 teaspoons of added sugar daily. When added up this equates to 400 calories a day.

How to try and moderate your intake of sugar

The problem with sugar is it has a tendency to lurk in various food products.
Read labels and pick products with the least amount of sugar ( four grams equals one teaspoon)
Check labels for sugar aliases.  Some of the common ones are dextrose, sucrose and high fructose.
Sugar can also be in other foods you wouldn’t expect like salad dressings, and certain types of meat.
Try not to drink to many soft drinks – these are loaded with sugar.
Most of all if you do have a really sweet tooth don’t try and cut it out completely just try and reduce your daily intake.

Thats what I plan to do because I have tried to cut it out before and failed miserably.
